The club entered the first 9-a-side under 11s league, organized by Preston City council. The matches were all to be staged at Myerscough College. Building on the success of the previous year, a more extended programme resulted in the club entering two teams in the under 11s, two teams in the under 13s and one team in the under 15s. Following on from the indoor success, coaching sessions were organized at Moor park cricket pitches, where over twenty-five young people took part over the summer. The sessions were finished with all participants taking the Kwik Cricket skills awards and all participants gained either a bronze or silver award.
Red Rose Sports Club began its activities with cricket. In 2002, the club entered the Preston indoor 6-a-side tournament. The club entered one team in the under 13s and one team in the under 15s competition.
